Navigating the Homepage

Updated on

The first thing you'll see when you log in to Salesforce is your Homepage. This article talks about some highlights of your homepage and where different buttons will take you.

Important Components of Your Home Page

1. Search Bar - This is one of the most used components of the homepage. In this box, you can type in whoever or whatever you are looking for and options will pop up. You can search for a volunteer's name, a specific volunteer event, a fundraising campaign, and more.

2. Navigation Bar - This bar can quickly bring you to different "objects" we have in Salesforce. An object is a consistent way to organize data and each show different fields, such as a person or a donation. More detail on the navigation bar below!

3. Dashboard - The Volunteer Dashboard shows some high level statistics that the volunteer team tracks, such as NPS Score, New Volunteers, No-Shows, etc.

Components of the Navigation Bar

1. Accounts - Households

2. Contacts - Individual People

Both of these buttons will lead you to your Recently Viewed Accounts and Contacts. If you're looking for a specific person, opt to use the Search Bar for more direct results. To learn the primary differences between Accounts and Contacts, click here.

3. Tasks: Tasks that you or your colleagues have had with certain households. An example would be a call or email to say thank you for a recent gift.

4. Reports: This button takes you to Reports, which compile data based on whatever filters you assign to it. You can view reports that have already been created, or create a new report.

5. Dashboards: Compiles groups of reports to show high level statistics. The Volunteer Dashboard will be your home screen

6. Volunteer Statuses (Childcare, Class Instructor, @Work, Spiritual Services, Social Activities): By clicking on these "Status" tabs, you can quickly see who all is in the pipeline for these different volunteer opportunities.

You now can successfully navigate your Salesforce Homepage! Happy searching!
